I am a disabled queer artist, activist, creative producer and facilitator. I use art as a medium for positive cultural growth. My work’s main themes deal with sexuality, community building and social justice. My practice includes (but is not limited to) sculpture, print, painting and photography. I have over 20 years experience working in the arts, exhibiting my own work and working in collaboration with a range of organisations and artists – including as an artist assistant to Rachel Whiteread and being selected as one of the people showcased on Anthony Gormley’s Forth Plinth with The Justin Campaign.
I have successfully founded and run large scale community campaigns such as The Justin Campaign (2008 – 11) and Football vs Homophobia (est. 2011) that utilise art and creativity to engage the public in social justice issues. These campaigns have received international recognition and press coverage. Football vs. Homophobia is now the official anti-homophobia initiative for the F.A. and The Justin Campaign is permanently housed in the National Football Museum. In 2018 I completed an MA at University of the Arts London in Applied Imagination. My practice blurs the lines between art and activism.
Since 2014 I have worked with sexuality practitioners to deliver The Bonobo Experience at queer sexuality festivals throughout Europe to hundreds of participants from the LGBTQIA+ community. In these settings The Bonobo Experience exists as a multi-media workshop based around aspects of Bonobo culture and uses role play to offer participants new ways to communicate and interact outside the constraints of social norms. I have also worked as a gallery technician for Fabrica, Brighton, as a prop maker for Plunge Productions, Brighton and delivered the Bronze Arts Award to students of the Pupil Referral Unit at Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne.
My artwork is archived in the Queer Britain Museum collection.
