Oliver Raymond-Barker was one of the UK artists selected to represent the UK at this year’s South Korean Geumgang Nature Art Biennale ‘Breathing Art’. UK participation in this event is curated by the Centre for Contemporary Art & the Natural World.
Oliver will talk about his recent participation in the Biennale held in South Korea this summer. The Forest Obscura project involved the construction of a Camera Obscura in the forest above the Geumgang river, allowing visitors to interact with the surrounding forest in a new way whilst also giving them an insight into the origins of photography.
The project underlines Oliver’s interest in searching for a direct process of image formation that merges the physical perception of the body with the materiality of landcsape.
As well as a slideshow that gives an insight into the Biennale as a whole Oliver will also show prints made in the camera and talk about possible future directions for the project.
