The next First Friday takes place at Dartington Space on November 1. Hosted by Mark Leahy, the invited guest is poet Tony Lopez.

In 2017 English poet Tony Lopez and Chilean photographer Ignacio Acosta collaborated on an investigation of the 18th and 19th century copper mining sites within the densely wooded landscape at the southern edge of Dartmoor National Park near Buckfast. Substantial remains of extractive industry, land and water engineering, production and export networks, and subsequent ecological recovery, figure in this site-specific work which was published in Poetry (Chicago) and in Acosta’s Copper Geographies, 2018.

Tony will talk about the project, show the photos and give a brief reading of the poem ‘Wheal Emma Leat’.
